My collection Freaknik Flicks is inspired by the African American event Freaknik back in the 80s to the early 90s. The word freak originated from the dance move 'doing the freak' and nik came from picnic. This was an event for black men and women to gather up in Atlanta Georgia and have fun for spring break. It was originally created for Spellman and Morehouse students who went to historically black colleges, but the event went worldwide, and everyone was coming to Atlanta to have fun. Celebrities started attending the event and my collection is to help those celebrities style themselves for freaknik.
